Helen Vick
Helen was born and raised in Michigan. She received
a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Dayton
in 1969. She graduated from Wayne State University Law
School in 1986 and joined the Michigan bar in November,
1986. In 1988 she attended a 10 day training seminar
at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
Helen has worked as a trial attorney for the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission. She practiced with
a Washtenaw County trial firm for a number of years.
She continues to advise clients on employment related
issues.
Helen also represented a bank and a credit bureau for
more than six years. She advises clients on consumer
rights regarding credit matters and collection activities.
She continues to represent creditors and debtors in
collection actions.
She is a member of the Washtenaw County Bar Association,
the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, the State
Bar of Michigan and the Michigan Trial Attorneys.
In addition, she has served as a lecturer for the Washtenaw
County Bar Association and she sits on the Zoning Board
of Appeals for the City of Ypsilanti as well as the
Commercial Façade Loan Committee. She was elected
to the Board of Trustees for the Ypsilanti District
Library in 1990 and continues to sit on that Board.
Non-professional affiliations include the Board of
Directors for the American Cancer Society (1992-1994;
President, 1993 and 1994), Board of Directors of Catholic
Social Services of Washtenaw County (1992-2000, President,
1997 and 1998). Helen was named to the International
Who’s Who of Business Professionals in 1995.
Carolyn Nelson
Carolyn Nelson is the legal assistant in the office. She was raised in Menomonie, Wisconsin, and is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. Carolyn was hired by the Law Office of Helen Conklin Vick in July of 2005. Her duties include meeting clients, setting up appointments, and billing for the office.
